# Occupancy combinations

Where the adult-and-child combinations you can price come from, and what to do when one is missing.

PAX is the hotel shorthand for the number of guests in a room. Every room type carries four occupancy settings in your channel manager — minimum PAX, maximum PAX, maximum adults, and whether children are allowed — and together they produce the list of adult-and-child combinations the room can be sold at: one adult, two adults, two adults plus a child, three adults, and so on.

Revhero reads that list and uses it as the rows of every Pricing structure and the occupancy dimension of every Yielding Board cell. You cannot price a combination that is not on the list, and you cannot add one from inside revhero — the four settings behind it live in your channel manager.

See the occupancy range per room under **Administration → Settings → Room Types**. The full list of combinations appears inside any Pricing structure, as the rows under each room.

*Four settings on the room produce every combination you can price — and you change them in your channel manager, not here.*

## How the list is produced

Revhero works out every valid pairing of adults and children for the room: at least one adult, never more adults than the room's maximum adults, and a total party size between the room's minimum and maximum PAX. Children are only included if the room allows them.

**A flexible family room** — minimum one guest, maximum five, up to four adults, children allowed:

| Adults | Children | Party |
| ------ | --------------- | ------ |
| 1 | 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4 | 1 to 5 |
| 2 | 0, 1, 2 or 3 | 2 to 5 |
| 3 | 0, 1 or 2 | 3 to 5 |
| 4 | 0 or 1 | 4 to 5 |

That is fourteen combinations, and revhero gives you a priceable row for each one.

**A tighter standard double** — minimum one guest, maximum three, up to two adults, children allowed: one adult, one adult plus a child, one adult plus two children, two adults, and two adults plus a child. Five combinations.

Narrow lists are usually deliberate. A honeymoon suite sold at two adults only, or a single room sold at one adult only, is a commercial decision made in your channel manager, not a revhero limitation.

## Where the combinations are used

| Where | How they appear |
| --------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Pricing structure** | One row per combination inside each room. The base occupancy row anchors that room's supplements; the others carry the per-occupancy adjustments |
| **Yielding Board, Custom mode** | Every room, board and occupancy cell is editable directly |
| **Yielding Board, Base and Room modes** | Your edit propagates through the supplements to every combination automatically |
| **Sending rates** | The send preview lists the outgoing rate for each combination |

Because the list comes from your channel manager, revhero can only ever yield occupancies your channels already accept — so you do not send a rate for a party size that will be rejected.

## Base occupancy and the Per Unit rule

For Per Occupancy rooms, base occupancy is fixed at two adults — one adult for single rooms.

For Per Unit rooms you choose it, from the adult counts the room sells. Children are not offered as a base occupancy. Choose carefully: yielding the rate at base occupancy also writes that rate to every lower combination. A villa selling one adult, two adults, two adults plus a child, and three adults, with base occupancy set at three adults, sends a €100 three-adult rate down to all three lower combinations as well. Only combinations at or above base occupancy keep their own adjustments.

## Pricing each combination

Inside a Pricing structure, each combination picks up its rate from the supplements you have set:

* the **single supplement** on the one-adult row
* **extra adult supplements** for each adult above base occupancy
* **children supplements** for each child, usually as a discount off the per-person rate

Cells refresh as you type, and every end rate carries an information icon showing which values built it. See [Supplements](/revhero-docs/setting-your-rates/pricing/supplements.md) and [Single supplement](/revhero-docs/setting-your-rates/pricing/single-supplement.md).

{% hint style="info" %}
Your channel manager works with a single child count, not age brackets. If you price infants, children and teenagers differently, that is handled through the children supplements in Pricing.
{% endhint %}

## Changing the list

You cannot add or remove combinations in revhero. To change them:

1. Adjust the minimum PAX, maximum PAX, maximum adults or child setting on the room in webhotelier, and save it there.
2. Email **<support@revhero.com>** to say what you changed. We resync the property so the new combinations come through — see [Manual sync](/revhero-docs/your-hotels-setup/settings/manual-sync.md).
3. Open Pricing for the affected period, edit-and-save the structure so the new rows appear.
4. Set the supplements for the new combinations and publish.

Spot-check the result on a live channel afterwards: search a stay date for the room and confirm the guest options offered match the list revhero holds. If a combination is missing from the channel but present here, the filtering happened on the channel side.

## When a combination is missing or unexpected

| What you see | Usually because | What to do |
| -------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| A combination is missing from Pricing | The change has not come through yet | Re-check the room's settings in webhotelier, then email <support@revhero.com> |
| A combination you do not want is on sale | The room's settings allow it | Tighten its maximum PAX or maximum adults in webhotelier, then email <support@revhero.com> |
| Two adults is missing on a Per Occupancy room | Minimum PAX is above two, or maximum adults below two | Per Occupancy rooms need two adults — adjust the room in webhotelier, then email <support@revhero.com> |
| A board cell is empty for a valid combination | No published structure covers that date, or the board is None | Publish the structure; check the rate plan assignment |
| Fewer combinations than the maximum PAX suggests | Maximum adults caps lower than maximum PAX | Expected — a room capped at two adults never offers three |
| The Per Unit base occupancy list shows no children | Base occupancy is adults only, by design | Handle child rates with the children supplement |
| A new combination appears with no rate | No rate has been published for it yet | Add a rate in your channel manager, then sync |
