# The fields

A plain-English dictionary of every column group and series in the Daily Performance table.

Daily Performance can show more than 80 columns when every group is open. You are not meant to read them all. You choose a small working set, and you read it the same way every morning. This page is the dictionary that lets you do that.

To see the full list in the product, open **Daily Performance** and click the **Columns** icon at the top right of the table. You can tick a column, untick it, drag it, or find it by typing its name into the search box.

Which columns *exist* depends on the property. Which columns are *visible* is your own choice.

Columns are organised into themed groups. From left to right, they are: `DATES`, `vs Median`, `LT`, `AVAIL`, `RATES`, `OCC`, `REV`, `RN`, `ADR`, `RevPAR`, `PU-7`, `PU-7 STLY`, `COMPETITOR RATE (BCOM)`, `ONLINE DEMAND OTB` and `ONLINE DEMAND STLY`.

*One row, split into the groups it is made of. Each group answers a different question.*

## The comparison series

Most metric groups carry the same 5 series and the same 4 variance chips. Those groups are OCC, REV, RN, ADR and RevPAR. Once you have learnt one group, you have learnt them all.

A **stay date** is a night a guest stays, not the date a booking was made.

| Series | What it shows |
| -------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **OTB** | On the books for the stay date, as of the Reference Date you have chosen. |
| **STLY** | Same Time Last Year — where you stood on the equivalent date a year ago, at the equivalent point in the booking window. |
| **LY** | Last Year — what the equivalent date finally closed at. |
| **BDGT** | The daily share of your monthly budget for that metric. |
| **FCST** | The forecast for the stay date. |

Next to them sit the variance chips: **vs STLY**, **vs LY**, **vs BUDGET** and **vs FCST**. A **variance chip** is a small coloured box holding a percentage. Each one shows how your on-the-books position compares with that series.

{% hint style="info" %}
STLY and LY answer different questions. STLY is the same point in the booking window, so it is the right reading for pace. LY is the final close, which is more useful at month end than day to day.
{% endhint %}

## Field by field

### DATES

| Column | Meaning |
| -------- | ----------------------- |
| **Date** | The stay date. |
| **Day** | Day of week, shortened. |

The box beside each date selects it for **Bulk Actions**.

### vs Median

The column under the RoomPulse icon compares your rate with the median rate of your comp set for the date, as a percentage.

| What you see | What it means |
| ---------------- | ---------------------------------------- |
| **Green**, minus | Your rate is below the competitor median |
| **Red**, plus | Your rate is above the competitor median |
| **n/a** | There is no comparison for that date |

Being above the median is not a problem in itself. Read it against your occupancy and pickup on the same row.

### LT

**LT** is the lead time: the number of days left before the stay date. A dash means the date has passed. It is the lead time a [business rule](/revhero-docs/automation/availability-rules.md) reads to choose its column.

### AVAIL

| Column | Meaning |
| -------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **TOT** | Rooms physically available to sell on the date — your inventory, less out-of-order rooms. |
| **ONL** | Rooms available for online sale on the date. This is usually lower than TOT when allocation is held back for direct or group business. |
| **SOLD** | Rooms sold for the date: **TOT** minus **ONL**. For example, 35 rooms with 3 still available online shows 32. It is the rooms sold figure a [business rule](/revhero-docs/automation/availability-rules.md) reads to choose its row. |

### RATES

| Column | Meaning |
| ---------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Send Rate** | Your rate for the date. You can change it here and send it. See [Changing rates from Daily Performance](/revhero-docs/your-hotels-performance/daily-performance.md#changing-rates-from-daily-performance). |
| **Rec Rate** | The rate Revhero recommends for the date. |
| **Business Rule Rate** | The rate one of your [business rules](/revhero-docs/automation/availability-rules.md) has worked out for the date. With the rule's **Autopilot** off, you decide whether to send it. A dash means no rule has set one. |
| **Room Type** | The room the rates are for: your base room. |
| **Rate Plan** | The board and rate plan the rates are for, for example *Room Only \| Flexible*. |

### OCC, REV, RN, ADR, RevPAR

Each of these groups carries the 5 series and the 4 chips described above.

| Group | What the value is |
| ---------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **OCC** | Occupancy percentage — rooms sold as a share of rooms available, excluding out-of-order rooms. |
| **REV** | Room revenue for the stay date, gross of tax. |
| **RN** | The count of room nights booked for the stay date. |
| **ADR** | Average daily rate — revenue per room sold. |
| **RevPAR** | Revenue per available room. It uses the same available-rooms basis as OCC. |

{% hint style="info" %}
Every cell is rounded for display, and ADR is calculated before rounding. If you recalculate ADR by hand from the rounded revenue and room-night cells, you will not always get the same number. Trust the ADR cell.
{% endhint %}

### PU-7

**Pickup** is the change in your on-the-books position for that stay date over the last 7 days.

Pickup is net, so cancellations are subtracted from new bookings. That is why a PU-7 cell can be negative.

A cancellation made inside the 7 days counts, even if the booking itself was made earlier. The [Pickup](/revhero-docs/your-hotels-performance/dashboard/pickup.md) widget on the Dashboard counts pickup the same way, so the two screens agree.

| Column | Meaning |
| ---------- | --------------------------------------------- |
| **RN** | Net room nights picked up in the last 7 days. |
| **OCC** | The occupancy point change over the window. |
| **REV** | Net revenue picked up over the window. |
| **ADR** | The ADR change implied by the window. |
| **RevPAR** | The RevPAR change over the window. |

### PU-7 STLY

The same 5 figures, for the equivalent stay date and the equivalent 7-day window a year ago.

Reading PU-7 against PU-7 STLY is the best pace check on the screen. It tells you whether this week's pickup is genuinely strong, or simply normal for the season.

### COMPETITOR RATE (BCOM)

| Column | Meaning |
| ------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Median Rate** | The median lowest available rate across your comp set for the stay date. |
| **My Property** | Your own lowest available rate for the stay date. |
| **Competitor name** | Each named comp-set property's lowest available rate. Hidden by default. |

A blank competitor cell means no rate was returned for that property on that day. The property may have been sold out, or it may have withdrawn the rate.

The median is taken across the competitors that did return a rate, so it stays meaningful.

### ONLINE DEMAND OTB and ONLINE DEMAND STLY

| Column | Meaning |
| -------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Hotel Search** | Searches that included your property for the stay date. |
| **Hotel Stay** | Users showing intent to stay at your property for the date. |
| **Market Search** | The same search figure, across the market. |
| **Market Stay** | The same intent figure, across the market. |
| **Share of Demand Search** | Your share of market search volume. |
| **Share of Demand Stay** | Your share of market intent. |

The STLY group repeats all 6 columns for the equivalent date last year. You can then tell whether today's demand is normal for the season or genuinely high.

## Reading a row left to right

1. **Anchor on the date.**
2. **Check vs Median** to see where your rate sits in your market.
3. **Check availability.** If ONL sits far below TOT, what you can sell online is the constraint.
4. **Read RN OTB** for volume.
5. **Read PU-7 RN against PU-7 STLY RN** for pace.
6. **Read OCC** for like-for-like fill.
7. **Read REV against STLY and BDGT** for the money story.
8. **Finish on the competitor median against My Property** to check where you are priced.
9. **Read the demand columns last.** They lead next week's rows.

Next: pick which of these to show in [Customising your view](/revhero-docs/your-hotels-performance/daily-performance/customisation.md), or start from [a recommended layout](/revhero-docs/your-hotels-performance/daily-performance/recommended-layout.md).
