## Early Bird Discount

A lower rate offered to guests who book well before arrival.

It brings bookings in early, which fills rooms sooner and makes your forecast steadier. The guest pays less, and you hold a confirmed booking.

## EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortisation)

A profit measure that shows what the business earns from its normal operations, before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation.

**EBITDA = operating profit before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation**

It shows how well the operation itself performs, separate from how the property is financed or valued.

## EBITDAR (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, Amortisation and Rent)

EBITDA with rent added back. It is used for hotels that lease their building, so that performance can be compared with hotels that own theirs.

**EBITDAR = EBITDA + rent**

## Electronic Distribution (ED)

Selling and managing your rooms through digital channels. Also called online distribution.

It covers online booking engines, the GDS and OTAs. It lets you manage your rooms in one place and reach guests who never contact the hotel directly.

## Enrich Rooms (RoomPulse)

A discovery pass you run for 1 property on the **Room Mapping** tab. It adds the room types that have appeared since you last mapped that hotel, and removes the ones that have gone.

Competitors add and withdraw room types all the time, so a mapping that was complete last month quietly stops being complete. Run Enrich Rooms for each property about once a month, and any time a competitor's rates start to look different from what you expect.

## Extranet

A website with controlled access, where partners, suppliers and approved customers log in to see information or do a task.

Only people you have authorised can see or change the information. An OTA extranet is where you manage that OTA's rates, availability and content.
