# Calendar View

The month view of the Yielding Board, where rates, recommendations, restrictions, availability, demand, offers and competitor prices all sit on one screen.

**Calendar View** lays your stay dates out as a month, 1 tile per date. The days of the week run across the top and the weeks run down the page, exactly like a wall calendar. A **stay date** is a night a guest stays, not the date a booking was made.

## What it gives you

Everything you need for a date is on one screen, and one screen is the point.

Without leaving the month you can see:

* your sell rate, the recommended rate, and the gap between them
* how much is left to sell
* your minimum stays and your close-outs
* how busy the date is expected to be
* which dates [Autopilot](/revhero-docs/automation/rate-recommendations/autopilot.md) is looking after

Click any date and the same screen adds that day's offer stack, that day's performance, and what your competitors are charging.

That is why the calendar is the view most people work in. It answers the question a rate decision actually asks — *what is going on with this date?* — in one place, instead of across 5 screens.

It is also the view that shows you a **pattern**. A month of tiles tells you whether your weekends lead your weekdays, where your close-outs have clustered, and where your price and the recommendation have drifted apart. A list of rows cannot show you that.

*A month of tiles, each carrying its rate, its recommendation and its colour.*

## Calendar View and Table View are the same board

The 2 views share the same data, the same period, the same yield mode and the same edit mode. Your pending edits follow you between them, and one **Send** commits everything. Switching view changes only how the dates are laid out.

| Use Calendar View to | Use [Table View](/revhero-docs/setting-your-rates/yielding-board/table-view.md) to |
| --------------------------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| See the shape of a month and find the dates that need you | Work through a long list of dates quickly |
| Go deep on one date — offers, performance, competitors | Compare room types against each other on the same date |
| Set restrictions on 1 room type | Set restrictions across several room types at once |
| Show a month to a general manager or an owner | Read the full price range and send history on every row |

Most people move between the 2 all day, and that is the right way to use the board. Find the dates in the calendar, then open the table when you want to work a list.

## Opening it

Click **Calendar View** in the left-hand menu of the board. Click it again to discard any pending edits and return to the default month.

The period selector works exactly as it does in Table View: **Next 31**, **Next 60**, **Next 90** or **Next 180 days**, or a start date in the future. A summary of the property's KPIs for the period sits across the top, and you can switch that summary to a daily reading.

## What a tile shows

The **Display** control at the top right sets 2 things: what each tile shows, and which legend sits under the month.

There are 4 display modes. Switching between them does not change your selected combination, period or month. Only the reading changes.

Three status chips can appear on a tile in any mode. **Edited** means you have a pending change you have not sent. **Sent** means the change has gone out. **Rule** means [Autopilot](/revhero-docs/automation/rate-recommendations/autopilot.md) is looking after that date, so the rate on the tile is the one it set.

### Rates — the default

Each tile carries 3 things, from top to bottom:

* **The day's price** — the send rate currently set for that stay date.
* **RR ⟨value⟩** — the recommended rate. A coloured ↑ or ↓ chip shows the gap between the 2 figures.
* **Room / total availability** — the room type's availability over the property's total for the day.

The tile colour shows how your price compares with the recommendation.

| Legend key | Colour | What it means |
| ----------------- | ------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| Price < Rec. Rate | Green | Your price is below the recommendation. You have room to raise it. |
| Price > Rec. Rate | Red | Your price is above the recommendation. |
| Price = Rec. Rate | Blue | Your price matches the recommendation exactly. |

One tile therefore carries the price, the recommendation, the gap and the remaining availability.

### Restrictions

A **restriction** is a rule that limits how a date can be sold. A minimum stay and a stop-sale are both restrictions.

In this mode each tile shows its restriction state only: a large status icon, and the minimum stay with its marker.

| Legend key | Colour | What it means |
| ---------- | ------ | ---------------------------------------------- |
| Open | Green | The day is open for sale. |
| Stop Sales | Red | The day is closed to sale. |
| LOS | — | The minimum length-of-stay marker on the tile. |

### Availability

Each tile shows a bold **room / total** availability figure next to the LOS marker. The tile colour follows a heat scale.

| Legend key | What it means |
| ----------------- | --------------------- |
| Sold Out | Nothing left to sell. |
| Low Availability | Few rooms remaining. |
| High Availability | Many rooms remaining. |
| Nothing Sold | No rooms sold yet. |

### Demand Stay

Each tile shows a demand figure and a percentage. The rate and the availability sit below them. The tiles are coloured in 5 ranges: **Highest Demand**, **High Demand**, **Normal Demand**, **Low Demand** and **Lowest Demand**.

This is demand for staying on that day. It is a different reading from the price-against-recommendation colours in the Rates display. Do not apply 1 legend to the other.

## The controls down the right edge

| Control | What it does |
| ---------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Availability** | Shows or hides the availability badge on each tile. |
| **Recommended Rates** | Puts the recommendation on the tiles. |
| **Current Gross Sell Rates** | Shows the rate as it currently stands on your channels. |
| **Edit mode** | Switches between **Edit Rates** and **Edit Restrictions**, exactly as in Table View. |
| **Yield Mode** | Switches between Base, Room, Custom and Unit, exactly as in Table View. |

Base Yield is the default here too, so every rate on a tile is a 2-adult rate until you change mode. See [Table View](/revhero-docs/setting-your-rates/yielding-board/table-view.md#yield-modes-decide-what-you-see).

## Looking at 1 date in detail

Click any tile to open the day drawer on the right. The drawer covers that date only, and the room, board and occupancy combination you have selected.

It has 3 tabs, and between them they hold the whole decision:

| Tab | What it gives you |
| -------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Info** | The day's send rate, the recommendation and the difference, what you last sent, your minimum stay and close-out, your Init, Min and Max — and the offer stack, so you can see what each channel's discounts and commission do to the rate before you commit. |
| **Performance KPIs** | That day's room nights, revenue, occupancy, RevPAR and ADR, against last year, forecast and budget. |
| **Competition** | Your competitors' prices for that date, with a median figure, at the length of stay you choose. |

You can edit the send rate and the restrictions in the drawer. The offer figures recalculate as you type. Full detail is in [The KPI drawer](/revhero-docs/setting-your-rates/yielding-board/kpi-drawer.md).

For the property's performance across the whole period rather than 1 date, open the [KPI drawer](/revhero-docs/setting-your-rates/yielding-board/kpi-drawer.md) from the bar-chart icon on the right edge.

## A worked example: pricing October weekends

This is how the screen is actually used. You will move around, change your mind, and check 2 things before you commit to a third. The calendar is built for that.

1. **Set the period so October is on screen**, and leave the Display control on **Rates**.
2. **Switch on Recommended Rates.** Every tile now shows your price and the recommendation together, and the colour tells you which way the gap runs.
3. **Look at the Fridays and Saturdays.** Say 5 of the 8 weekend tiles are green, which means you are below the recommendation on those dates.
4. **Check the market before you accept anything.** Click the Saturday you care about most and open the **Competition** tab. Read the median competitor rate and the list under it. If the recommendation sits sensibly against the market, you have your answer for that date.
5. **Check how much you have left to sell.** Switch the Display control to **Availability** and read the same weekend. A weekend that is nearly sold is a different decision from one that is wide open.
6. **Check the offer stack.** Back in the day drawer, on the **Info** tab, look at what the rate becomes after your channel discounts and commission. That is the money you actually keep.
7. **Change your mind if you need to.** Nothing has been sent yet. Type a rate in the drawer, look at the offer figures again, type a different one.
8. **Accept the rest in one action.** Open **Bulk Update**, choose **Copy From → Recommended Rates**, set the range to October, and limit it to Friday and Saturday. Click **Apply**. The recommended rates fill the weekends only.
9. **Send.** Click **Send**, read the preview, untick anything you want to look at again, and confirm. See [Sending rates](/revhero-docs/setting-your-rates/yielding-board/send-rates.md).

The order is yours. You can check availability first and the market second. The point is that every one of those checks is on the same screen, so changing your mind costs you nothing.

## Changing many dates at once

**Bulk Update** is how you move a stretch of dates without clicking each tile.

| What you want | What to choose |
| ---------------------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------- |
| Accept the recommendations across a period | **Copy From → Recommended Rates** |
| Put every date in the period at one rate | **Fixed Price** |
| Raise rates by an amount or a percentage | **Increase by** |
| Lower rates by an amount or a percentage | **Decrease by** |
| Go back to the rates your pricing structure produces | **Copy From → Initially Loaded Rates** |

Inside Bulk Update you set the date range, and you can limit the change to certain days of the week. "Increase every Friday and Saturday in October by 10%" is one action. So is "set a minimum stay of 2 nights on every weekend in August", once you have switched to **Edit Restrictions**.

Two things limit what a bulk change touches: your **yield mode** and your **filters**. Base touches the base only, and Room touches the selected room. Switch to **Custom** to reach every combination.

Everything a bulk change touches stays pending until you send it, and the preview lists all of it. You can send a whole month in 1 action, and you still see every line before it leaves.

{% hint style="info" %}
Calendar View does not let you select several tiles at once. To change a range of dates, use **Bulk Update** rather than clicking each tile.
{% endhint %}

## Setting restrictions here

In Calendar View, minimum stays and close-outs apply to **1 room type at a time**. That is right when you are closing a single category for a maintenance window.

To set a minimum stay or a stop-sale across several room types at once, use [Table View](/revhero-docs/setting-your-rates/yielding-board/table-view.md). It is faster.

## If something looks wrong

| What you see | What to do |
| ---------------------------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Tiles show no rate | Your pricing structure is not published for those dates. Check it in [Pricing](/revhero-docs/setting-your-rates/pricing.md). |
| The day drawer's figures did not follow a room-type change | Close the drawer and open it again. |
| The Recommended Rates overlay is missing | Rate recommendations are not active for the property. See [Rate Recommendations](/revhero-docs/automation/rate-recommendations.md). |
| A tile shows the **Rule** chip and your edit will not hold | [Autopilot](/revhero-docs/automation/rate-recommendations/autopilot.md) owns that date. Exclude the date in the Autopilot settings to take it back. |
| Close-out markers on dates you did not close | Check the Close Out Date column in [Table View](/revhero-docs/setting-your-rates/yielding-board/table-view.md) for the record. Then open the day again in Edit Restrictions. |
| The calendar still shows the old rate after a send | Wait a moment, then reload the page. |
| The competitor panel in the drawer is empty | Your competitor set is not configured yet. See [Competitors & competitor groups](/revhero-docs/roompulse/rate-settings/competitors.md). |
