# Price settings

Set how far your rate may drift from the market median, and where you want to rank, before RoomPulse flags it.

The **Price** tab holds the property-wide thresholds that decide when your rate counts as drifting away from the market. Open it from the **gear** icon, then **Price**.

These settings do not shop rates and they do not change a price. They decide what is coloured as worth a look across RoomPulse — the deviation indicator on the calendar, and the percentage-against-median chip on [Market Rates](/revhero-docs/roompulse/market-rates.md). Set them once and every screen reads the same numbers.

*Two thresholds decide when the gap between your price and the median stops being normal.*

## Median setting

The median setting defines two levels for the percentage difference between your price and your competitors':

| Range               | What it means                                                             |
| ------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Green** | Your price is within the range you consider acceptable against the median |
| **Amber — warning** | Your price has passed the first threshold. Worth a look |
| **Red — danger** | Your price has passed the second threshold. A significant gap |

You set the two percentages with a **−** / **+** stepper. The first is where green becomes amber; the second is where amber becomes red.

{% hint style="info" %}
Set these to numbers that would genuinely make you stop and look. Thresholds set too tight turn every date amber, and a screen where everything is a warning is a screen with no warnings on it.
{% endhint %}

## Ranking setting

The ranking setting expresses the same idea as a **position** in the competitor line-up rather than a percentage — useful if your strategy is "third most expensive in my set" rather than "within 10% of the median".

| Setting                | What it does                                               |
| ---------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Ideal Position** | The rank you aim to hold among your competitors |
| **Position Threshold** | How far from that ideal you may drift before it is flagged |

Both are **−** / **+** steppers. Together they drive the calendar's **Ranking** display.

## Saving

**Save** applies your changes across RoomPulse. **Reset** returns the values to their previous state.

## Where these show up

* [**Calendar settings**](/revhero-docs/roompulse/rate-settings/calendar.md) — the green, amber and red ranges feed the median-deviation display, shown as an icon alone or as an icon with a coloured cell background. The ranking values feed the calendar's **Ranking** display.
* [**Market Rates**](/revhero-docs/roompulse/market-rates.md) — the percentage-against-median chip uses the same levels.

## These are not your alert thresholds

The ranges here are display defaults. An individual **Rate Comparison** alert carries its own lowest and highest percentages, set on the alert itself. Changing the ranges on this tab does not change any alert you have already created — see [Alerts](/revhero-docs/roompulse/alerts.md).
